The City of Lawton is pleased to announce its Spring 2026 Art Classes, offering a dynamic lineup of hands-on courses is now open for enrollment until February 27.Classes will run from March through April 2026 and will take place at the Carnegie Library Town Hall located at 5th & B Ave. The spring schedule includes courses in photography, creative writing, figure drawing, painting, sculpture and watercolor. Classes are open to beginners as well as experienced artists. The spring course lineup features photography, creative writing, drawing, painting, and watercolor, each taught by accomplished local artists with most courses meeting once or twice a week in the evenings.
Spring 2026 Course Offerings Include:
Photography I with Krystal Britz – A hands-on course covering camera settings, lighting, and creative techniques such as long exposure and double exposure.
Intro to Fiction Techniques with Leah Chaffins and Cameron’s Writing Studio – An exploration of the essential building blocks of storytelling, including character, dialogue, and story arc.
Figure Drawing with Matthew D. Hughes – A foundational drawing class working from live models, open to beginners and advanced students.
Intro to Acrylic with Theresa Riemer – A beginner-friendly painting course focused on acrylic techniques, color mixing, and creative exploration.
Paper Mache with Le’Shondre Higdon – A sculptural workshop emphasizing form, texture, and imaginative design using mixed materials.
Beginning Watercolor: Floral Still Life with Katherine Liontas-Warren – A one-week intensive workshop focusing on realistic and expressive watercolor techniques.
All classes are priced at $50 per course, and supply requirements vary by class. Students are encouraged to review course details prior to registration.
